Dear readers, in honor of American Craft Beer week, Jeannette would like to give you a recipe that is easy, delicious and makes enough to have a party. Jeannette has a firm belief that if you can read, you can cook. This is a recipe that Jeannette's daughter, Samantha, who lives in the greater Rochester area, has designed from scratch. All of the ingredients can be purchased from the greater Rochester area Wegmans' stores. Follow the "HOG" all day throughout the city as all the festivities get underway. Click here for a detailed map of where you pulled pork recipe can catch this legendary piece of PBW history. We were immediately seated and handed our menus. Smokey Bones has all of the usual BBQ fare such as baby back ribs, bbq pulled pork dutch oven, barbecued chicken, beef brisket, etc. I decided on a combination platter or ribs and chicken that also includes two sides. It was only $15. So, I chose the baked beans and cole slaw. Meals also include Texas toast as well. You see, barbecued food is cooked longer than typical grilled meats. This brings us to the second difference between these two devices - Length of cooking time. You can grill a steak in 12 minutes usually. Chicken might take 40 minutes or so, but it can still be done on a standard grill. If you want proper BBQ pulled pork, for example though, you're going to have to put some serious time in. The barbecuing process can take up to 8 hours sometimes, depending on the size of the cut. So why doesn't the meat burn? In a small bowl combine the black pepper, chili powder, half the cumin, and the garlic powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the meat and rub in with your hands. Place the pork into the slow cooker bbq pulled pork. Cover and cook on low setting 8 to 9 hours or on high setting for 4 to 5 hours. 4-Johnny Reb's in Orange, is a down home BBQ and southern comfort food place. But if anyone knows how to fry food-it's the south. So the fries are perfect, plus they go well with the BBQ pulled pork. While you're breaking the diet here-try the deep-fried pickles. Next, pour a combination of plain yellow mustard and/or honey over the bbq pulled pork. You may have to heat the honey up to get it to spread properly. Use a brush and cover all the sides. I don't think the people organizing this affair could've picked a better day: 3 days into PBW. Be sure to make a day out of this, as every bar along the avenue will be participating with specials, samplings, and everything in between, including, but not limited to $15 buckets of Bell's Beer at Stogie Joe's, and a Dogfish Head-style cookout at the Pub on Passyunk East.
